Wish I could find cheap DSL

I live in Valle Mines, and can't find anything besides dial up out here. I have checked with Charter(they don't do anything). We have DirectTv and they don't either, plus I heard they are in the 50.00 and over range. My dial up is only 19.99 a month, but it is very slow...

that's what i am paying is 19.95 through AT and T and it's wireless. you might check into it. Yet be careful because your first month's bill would be pricey for the equipment. There are things they omit but once it's set up and after the first bill it should be okay.

I checked into AT&T and they had nothing in my area. I'm not sure what wireless is either. But when I called them, they said it was only dial up in my area.

well I have wireless and I like it so far but the drawback is if I need to use my laptop somewhere else I may not have a signal everywhere. There are drawbacks to both.

Bev4christ, is the service itself wireless, or do you have a wireless router in your home?

All i know is it's wireless lol. I told At and t i wanted wireless lol. I have a modem with a built in router whatever that is a 2 wire deal.

Yep, that's the deal. You have high-speed DSL to your home, but the make/model of your modem with built-in wireless router is 2Wire. It's a good, dependable piece of equipment that should give you years of trouble-free use.

Did you ever get past that problem you were having with connecting to that online game?

With a 2Wire, you can get to the settings you need to open ports by going to HOMEPORTAL/MANAGEMENT in your browser. It'll take you into the setup for the modem/router, if you have the password to make config changes.

Do you get a cell phone signal? I use a sprint broadband card that cost $59.99 a month. I can't get charter or dsl, so it was satellite or the card. The card was best for me because I do a lot of work in the field.

The only hope for you is getting satilight internet and its horribly expensive. Someone one here at one time wanted to sell their wildblue equipment.. I pay $17.99 per month from People PC.
